Web Wise Seniors, Inc. is a company dedicated to helping individuals over the age of 50 learn basic computer skills. The goal of WWS is to help all older adults, regardless of their location or financial status, learn needed computer skills.

Web Wise Seniors teaches the senior community with the use of specially designed mobile training labs. These labs enable Web Wise Seniors with the advantage of teaching virtually anywhere and everywhere. WWS can go to places where seniors already congregate and take its classes to people who are unable to travel to other learning facilities. Classes are taught through school systems, retirement villages, senior centers, hospital systems and other community organizations.

In addition to the mobile labs, the success of WWS can also be greatly attributed to its proprietary teaching material, instructor training program and curriculum. Over the years, WWS has developed a unique teaching style that has set its classes apart from other educational programs and, according to thousands of WWS students, making it the best program available.

Web Wise Seniors currently teaches in Akron, Canton,Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky. With the launch of the new WWS licensing program, Web Wise Seniors will continue to expand at an even faster pace. This overwhelmingly successful teaching program will soon be known throughout the United States.

Web Wise Seniors is driven by the belief that everyone is entitled to an education and that computer literacy is a necessity in today’s world. The mission of Web Wise Seniors is to provide an affordable and accessible computer education to individuals over the age of 50 who have been overlooked in the computer revolution. By offering a supportive environment in which seniors can learn computer skills, Web Wise Seniors will help level the playing field, thereby improving the quality of life for seniors now and in the future.

The idea behind Web Wise Seniors was first developed
during the latter half of 1999. Gilbert Pelton, 82 year old grandfather of Stephen Pelton, was watching the discovery channel when the show ended prematurely. The show was talking about some very obscure “underwater pyramids” and the topic had really grabbed grandpa Pelton’s interest. Hearing about all this information that could be discovered on this so called “Internet” grandpa Pelton asked his grandson Steve to use the Internet to find out the rest of the story. After a couple hours of searching Steve had come up empty handed, mainly for the fact that he was not too sure of what he was exactly looking for. The next day, Steve took his grandfather under his wing and patiently taught him how to use the Internet. Within a few minutes after learning how to use the Internet grandpa Pelton had found the exact information he was looking for as well as a new hobby.

The teaching did not stop there. After grandpa pelton, several other relatives came forth as well as some friends of the family. They were all interested in learning more about computers. An idea came to Steve and Web Wise Seniors was founded in December 1999 later to be incorporated in May of 2000. Web Wise Seniors was based around the Internet and the concept of an easy to use web site for seniors. Teaching began as a way to direct individuals to the site and expand the idea. Little did anyone know the incredible demand for classes and computer help that lay ahead.

By November 2001, Web Wise Seniors had become a very well known and respected name in northern Ohio. Classes were being taught in senior centers, community education programs, and even Universities throughout the area. The business concept and demand for classes spread like wild fire and continues to do so.

Since 1999, the Web Wise Seniors computer education program has seen overwhelming success throughout the state of Ohio. In the last two years alone, WWS has taught nearly 2,000 computer classes and filled over 19,000 classroom seats.
